37% of straight, cisgender Americans think queer youth homelessness is no big deal
Half of Americans think that "gay people have the same rights as everybody else."

This week, GLAAD released the Accelerating Acceptance Report, a survey of 2,032 American adults about their views on different LGBT-related issues. Of this sample, 1,781 participants were non-LGBT.
The results are a great big bummer. Some key stats about the opinions of the non-LGBT Americans surveyed:
- 50% think “gay people have the same rights as everybody else”
- 37% think LGBT youth homelessness is not serious
- 27% think anti-trans violence is not serious
- 27% are uncomfortable learning a family member is LGBT
- 29% are uncomfortable seeing a same-sex couple holding hands
- 26% are uncomfortable seeing an LGBT coworker’s wedding photo
